If “genre” in music means both that it’s possible to identify all of the elements of the genre in order to create new derivative work, and also an indication that the era of evolution for music like that is over, it’s interesting that pounding AmRep dude rock is a genre.

Mark E Smith’s been dead a couple years, and anyone who ever actually listened to the Fall can probably be comfortably seated to nurse their juice boxes at the community table in an assisted living facility, so leading with off-key notes declaring war on everything that isn’t The Fall is perplexing in 2020.

Terry – I’m Terry lp

I’m almost annoyed I couldn’t help but agree with a review’s observation that this album can be represented in the union of Werewolves of London and the Shirelles’ Baby It’s You, because trust me, as much as I love the Shirelles, I don’t ever want anyone to play the Warren Zevon song ever again and I’m so thrilled something good came of it after all.
